The Hong Kong Trade and Development Council´s (HKTDC) 9th edition of Entrepreneurship day opened in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on May 19th. With nearly 300 exhibitors participating, it is the largest entrepreneurship event organized by the HKTDC to date.

This event is open to the public and features events by successful local businessmen whose companies were startups at one point. Over 40 seminars and other activities are planned to educate those who are interested in entrepreneurship on innovation and opportunities. Speakers and guests include the founder of Lalamove, co-founder of WeLabs Holdings, co-founder of Tink Labs, and CEO of TNG Wallet.
There will also be investors, representatives of angel funds, and venture capitalists on site to match with interested startup business owners. There are several pitching sessions for startups to obtain funding and the winner will stand a chance of receiving up to $20 million in capital funds. In addition to funding, experienced mentors can give startup owners advice through the mixer event.

Nearly a quarter of all the exhibitors are startups or businesses in the tech industry. They feature augmented reality, virtual reality, and robotics applications in business or sales processes. Several universities have also set up counters to display their work. All visitors are encouraged to try demos of new technology.
